Five interlocking tales of terror follow the fates of a group of weary
travellers who confront their worst nightmares - and darkest secrets -
over one long night on a desolate stretch of desert highway.
The anthology format of this leaves a lot of surprises in store, particularly because they vary so much in terms of their length. Some of them even feel like feature films, not just in their runtime but in their development and structure. One good thing about it is that the acting is uniformly good throughout all stories. Perhaps some actors are better than others, but for the most part really well done work by the cast. The film also is balanced nicely in terms of what kind of punches to pull. I wouldn't say it all works though. At times it does seem to get a bit repetitive. However, the thematic links and the actual continuing narratives and characters from some of the stories make it seem more relevant and important than an anthology film like V/H/S. Overall, recommended.
